Evening Post report on the award to retired Police Inspector Dick (The Fix) Phillips for his part in the rescue of a 101 year old woman from a blazing house. |
Mike Godrich was recently awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours List (2008) for his services in organising the Blue Light Discos. It all started in 1971 when Mike was a Community PC in Clase and later in Mynyddbach running a Youth Club and Swimming Classes. In the early 1980's, together with other officers, the Blue Light Discos started in the Mumbles and have been an ongoing success ever since. There are actually 100 planned for 2008. There are many youngsters attending now, who have Grandparents who attended the early sessions! Congratulations Mike from all at NARPO Swansea Branch. |
