The footnote is an extract from an email received from Malcolm Humphries; thank you Malcolm for this suggestion. This has been discussed by committee members in the past; how to find a sure way of finding out dates of up and coming doo's, but not exactly easy to put into practice!
Time once again to remind everyone please that should you become aware of up and coming retirement Doo's, then please contact any of the committee either directly or by email/telephone.
One of our committee members, Phil Taylor, is of course still working for the Police and as a result he gets to see most of the posters advertising retirement functions. This information is then relayed to Jeff Davies so that it can be placed on the relevant page of our website.
Phil has attended pre retirement courses with reps from both the Glamorgan and Cardiff branches. If invited again, he will use the opportunity to mention this at the course.
So, to reiterate once again, this is 'your website', please feel free to use it to your advantage, keeping in touch with other members/ex-colleagues and especially to try and make sure that serving members who are about to retire get as big a send off as possible. The internet is a wonderful tool, let's take full advantage of it as much as we possibly can!
"Serving officers sometimes have difficulty contacting retired Police Officers - particularly if they have been retired for many years. Would it not be possible to encourage serving officers (notices in Police Stations etc.) to inform NARPO if impending retirement functions in order that, the times, dates, locations of such events could be placed on your website for the information of retired officers who would like to attend the leaving do's of their former colleagues".
